InitOrigin started from a small irritation. Agents are becoming a normal part of engineering, but the tooling around them is opaque: you cannot see what the agent did, you cannot reproduce a failure, and you cannot tell whether last week's prompt change made things better or worse. Meanwhile the bill arrives in dollars.
So we build the boring, load-bearing part — the runtime — and give it away. built for everyone, open by default.
01Open at the bottom
The runtime, the CLI and the trace format are Apache-2.0 and stay that way. If we disappear, your tooling still works.
02Measured, not vibed
An agent you cannot inspect is a demo. Everything we ship assumes you will want the trace and the diff.
03Your keys, your data
Local-first is the default, not the enterprise upsell. Code leaves your machine only when you say so.
04Priced for where we are
A tool a working student cannot afford does not get adopted. Free is the real product; paid is the convenience.
